I got my first pet when I was about 4 years old and her name was Purr. She was a domestic short hair tabby cat who was my best friend. Even at that age, I think I understood the connection between people and their pets and that I wanted to be a veterinarian. As a kid I was always rescuing critters like the 3 red squirrel babies whose mom had been killed in the street in front of my house and countless birds, bunnies and others. I always loved Science. In 1989 I graduated from MSU with a BS in the Sciences with a teaching degree then continued at MSU CVM and graduated in 1994. After vet school I took my first job in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I worked at that clinic for about 7 years and decided to leave about a year after they were bought out by a large veterinary corporation. I took another job in Richland, Michigan for about a year then decided it was time to start my own practice and do things my way. I started the Visiting Vet mobile veterinary clinic in May of 2002.
I am grateful to have achieved my lifelong dream and honored by the trust placed on me by both patients and their owners. I thank my mom and family for the support and sacrifices made to get me thru vet school and beyond. I treasure my long term relationships with owners as we work together to ensure that the pets they love receive the best care possible and are always treated with kindness, compassion and respect.
When I am not with my patients or running the business end of practice I am usually at home with my family (wife Tammy and daughter Sydney) and pets. I love to travel, garden, paint and do pottery.
